Cornerstone Healthcare Properties is a real estate company headquartered in Irvine, California that helps investors to accumulate and manage diversified portfolios of U.S.-based healthcare properties worldwide.
Healthcare is the single largest industry in the United States, representing approximately 18% of Gross Domestic Product and is growing at a rate greater than that of the overall economy. The delivery of healthcare services is real estate intensive – healthcare providers have an increasing dependency on real estate to maintain and grow their businesses. The acquisition and management of healthcare real estate is highly specialized and served by relatively few independent investment teams, as compared with other more traditional commercial real estate asset classes. Cornerstone Healthcare Properties is one of those few teams.
Cornerstone Healthcare Properties is led by Stephen I. Robie. Mr. Robie has over 20 years of global real estate finance experience managing the financial operations of both high-growth, high-profit S&P 500 corporations and start-up, entrepreneurial ventures. His past experience includes being Senior Vice President of Finance at HCP, Inc. where his responsibilities included managing financial operations and coordinating all aspects of financial and strategic planning for the $15 billion REIT with over 700 properties diversified among hospitals, senior housing, medical office, life science and skilled nursing facilities. Mr. Robie was also with General Electric Company and its commercial real estate division, GE Real Estate, and was Manager of Finance for GE Real Estate’s North America Equity Investments responsible for managing all finance and accounting operations of more than $10 billion of real estate in three countries and supporting the origination, structuring and execution of large, complex real estate transactions.
